Tenets of Faith

The Tenets of Faith of Covocacional articulate its core theological convictions. These Tenets provide the foundation for the ministry’s teaching, governance, and ministry activity.

1.    The Triune God
We believe in one sovereign, eternal, and living God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is infinite in holiness, perfect in love, and glorious in majesty. As Creator and Sustainer of all things, He alone is worthy of worship.

2.    Revelation and Scripture
We believe God has graciously revealed Himself in human language through the Old and New Testaments, which are verbally inspired, without error in their original writings, authoritative, sufficient, and final in all matters of faith and practice. God’s Word is the supreme standard for belief, character, and conduct.

3.    Creation and Human Dignity
We believe God created humanity in His image, male and female, with dignity, value, and purpose. Humanity was designed to live in fellowship with God, steward creation, and flourish in obedience to His will.

4.    Sin and the Human Condition
We believe that through human rebellion, sin entered the world, corrupting every aspect of human nature and creation. As a result, all people are alienated from God, under His righteous judgment, and incapable of saving themselves apart from divine grace.

5.    Jesus Christ and Redemption
We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became fully human without ceasing to be fully divine. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life and offered Himself as a substitutionary atonement through His death on the cross. He was buried, rose bodily on the third day, ascended into heaven, and now intercedes for His people as Lord and King. Salvation is accomplished through His finished work alone.

6.    Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Christ alone. This salvation involves justification, adoption, regeneration, sanctification, and ultimate glorification. Genuine faith is evidenced by repentance, new life, and perseverance.

7.    The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit glorifies the Son, convicts the world of sin, regenerates and indwells believers, unites them with Christ, and empowers them for holy living and mission. The Spirit distributes gifts for the edification of the Church and the advancement of the gospel.

8.    The Church
We believe the universal Church is the body of Christ, composed of all who have been united to Him by faith. The Church exists to worship God, proclaim His Word, administer the ordinances, make disciples, and live as a distinct, holy community in the world. Local churches embody this mission in specific contexts.

9.    Christian Mission and Calling
We believe all believers are called to participate in God’s mission through word and deed. Work, vocation, and community engagement are arenas for gospel witness and kingdom impact. The Church is called to make disciples of all nations, embodying both proclamation and service.

10. Last Things
We believe Jesus Christ will return bodily in glory to judge the living and the dead, renew all things, and reign forever. The righteous will dwell eternally with God in the new creation, and the unrepentant will face eternal separation from God.

11. Marriage and Family
We believe that God has ordained marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, designed for mutual support, companionship, and the raising of children. Marriage reflects Christ’s covenant love for the Church and serves as a foundational institution for family, society, and the nurturing of the next generation. The family is entrusted with spiritual, moral, and relational formation, and all ministry of the Corporation shall honor and uphold God’s purposes for marriage and family life.

12.  Final Authority
In the event of disagreement regarding interpretation of these Tenets, the Board of Directors shall serve as the final doctrinal authority for the Corporation.
